WineSmith
The showcase brand for the Smith family business, WineSmith wines are intended to demonstrate concepts of our postmodern winemaking system. Clark Smith's French training shows up in these courageous and edgy stylistic choices which explore new traditions beyond the mainstream. These wines deliver striking value and extremely high quality without exception. We can scarcely afford to be second-best!

2005 WineSmith Roman Syrah |
|
| This high altitude vineyard carved into deep granite always delives massive tannins which require taming. In 2005 we employed French reserve élevage principles to create a rich structure with more depth. The mineral energy which drives the finish testifies to the sites living soil, a result of farming practices which respect nature. More Details |

2003 WineSmith Faux Chablis |
|
| "One California winery is even trying to out-Chablis the Chablisoisie: WineSmith makes an incredibly steely Chardonnay under the name Faux Chablis. I don't know whether Ernst & Young would approve of that name, but the wine is extraordinary"
--James Rodewald, Gourmet Magazine More Details |

2006 WineSmith Cabernet Sauvignon |
|
| Our 2006 Cab is the latest vintage of our soulful expression of this sometimes "generic" red wine. Expressive of not only the exceptional vineyards where we get our grapes as well as the loving care and commitment of our growers, this wine is a testament to "real" yet restrained wine. Not too much oak, not too much alcohol, not too much herbaceousness, this wine is perfect for the Goldilocks in all of us.....i.e., it is "JUST RIGHT." Enjoy! More Details |

2005 WineSmith Pinot Noir |
|
| The FiddleStix vineyard is owned by my UC Davis study partner, Kathy Joseph. Fiddlestix is a magical playground of differing sites and clonal selections. To create a complete wine, we decided to blend clone 115, a Dijon clone noted for tannin structure and cherry fruit, with Clone 667, from which wed get perfume
and spice. Blended, we made a wine of freshness, energy and integrity which will age well.
